The Bourbon Pear coming to Livermore from chef Rodney Worth

0

A new restaurant serving Southern food, steaks and a whole lot of bourbon is set to arrive in Livermore later this year.

Chef Rodney Worth, whose “Pear” empire of restaurants includes Danville’s The Peasant & the Pear and The Little Pear in Walnut Creek, plans to open The Bourbon Pear in downtown Livermore in October.

“The food will be similar to The Peasant & the Pear with a little bit more Southern roots — collard greens, red beans and rice, catfish, etc.,” Worth says. “It will have a very extensive bourbon list, and it’s going to be a table restaurant with good, approachable dining.”

Worth is a well-known chef in the Tri-Valley area, having run several other now-closed restaurants, including the Prickly Pear Cantina in Danville and Worth Ranch in San Ramon, as well as the current The Peasant’s Courtyard in Alamo.

While Southern grub is chief on the menu, The Bourbon Pear will also serve prime steaks, burgers and salads. There will be a full bar.

Expect the restaurant to have a slightly rustic decor. “We are using redwood from a barn that’s 150 years old to make the bar,” notes Worth.

The Bourbon Pear adds to the mini-Renaissance in Livermore’s recent food scene. Other buzzy new arrivals include Cured: Fish Bar, The Black Cat bistro and as of July 13, Free Range Flower Winery’s new tasting room.
