‘Bring them back’ sob shoppers over nostalgic childhood favourite AXED from shelves
SHOPPERS have demanded that a popular childhood treat be returned to UK shelves after it was axed.
Bubbaloo was one of the most popular chewing gum brands in the UK during the 1990s and the 2000s.

One shopper posted a pic of the retro sweets to a UK bargains group on Facebook with the caption: “They need to bring these back.”
The post went viral after hundreds of users left comments and tagged their friends.
“Loved them,” someone commented.
Another user said: “Wonder if we can find a shop for all the oldies.”
“I loved these!” a third added.
It’s unclear when stores axed Bubbaloo from the shelves but they stopped being widely available in UK shops around the early 2000s.
The once-popular chewing can still be bought through speciality retailers or international markets.
This isn’t the only sweet treat that Brits have complained about on social media after it was axed.
The food giant Nestle, announced on X, previously Twitter, that the company has axed the popular Polo fruits and Polo Gummies from its treats lineup in the UK.
Nestle wrote in a post: “Sorry to have to give you disappointing news, unfortunately, Polo Fruits and Polo gummies has been discontinued from our range.”
The food giant said these products were not as popular as others in the range.
But the news disheartened a lot of Brits who love the sweets – and now they are requesting the company to get them back.
One such fan wrote on social media: “Hey Nestle, I haven’t been able to find spearmint polos in ages.
“Please tell me you didn’t do to them what you did to the fruit ones and the (short-lived but I loved them) gummy ones?”
To which the company replied: “Unfortunately, our Polo Fruits and Polo Gummies were not as popular as others in the range and have been discontinued.
“But we’ll surely let the team know you’d like to see them back.”
Another popular brand that faced backlash from sweet lovers was McVitie’s after they discontinued one of their beloved chocolate bars.
McVitie’s said the Club Fruit flavour, combining currants, biscuit and milk chocolate, had been axed “a few years ago” in a 2023 X post.
The company said customers can still get their hands on the orange, mint and salted caramel flavours.
But some shoppers are still desperate for the fruit flavour to return to retailers and supermarkets across the UK.
Posting on the Discontinued and Nostalgic Snacks and Blasts from the Past Facebook page yesterday, one said it was a “shame” the iconic bar had been dropped by McVitie’s.
The post has already notched up over 400 likes and almost 100 comments from fans of the bar calling for it to be reintroduced.
One said: “They were the best! Not sure why they stopped making them.”
Another chimed in: “These were the best. Why they stopped them I’ll never know!”
A third commented: “Fruit Clubs really need to return.”
A fourth added “I don’t know why they stopped them and kept the others” while a fifth said, “top tier these were”.
It comes after a new flavour of a popular sweet has hit the shelves of UK stores just in time for summer.
