Woodworkers turn damaged historic tree into memento
SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A project aimed at preserving some of Union College's history is now complete. Over the past year, the Northeastern Woodworkers Association Crafters Group has been building tables for the college.
The wood comes from a black walnut tree that was planted by the school's president in the 1800s but had to be chopped down after it was damaged. The woodworkers crafted two tables from the wood, both of which are being raffled off to raise money for the association and Unions athletic program.
