Major rush hour disruption after four Tube and rail lines hit by delays
If getting up for work wasn’t bad enough, Londoners are facing a morning of severe delays on the Tube.
The Central, Hammersmith & City and Waterloo & City lines are all experiencing delays, as is the Elizabeth line.
The entire Central Line has become paralysed, TfL says, due to a ‘late finish to engineering work’.
While the transport authority says London Underground tickets will be accepted on the Elizabeth line, this line is also seeing disruption.
‘Minor delays Paddington to Heathrow/Reading while we fix a track fault in the Hayes & Harlington area. GOOD SERVICE on all other routes,’ TfL says on its status updates webpage.
The Waterloo & City Line, which services Waterloo and Bank, is also facing minor delays ‘due to train cancellations’, transit officials say.
There are also severe delays between Liverpool Street in London’s financial district and commuter hotspot Barking due to ‘earlier faulty trains’ on the Hammersmith & City line.
Though True Tube Status, a service that monitors London Underground routes, says the delays are ‘minor’ at best. Journeys are roughly 8% longer than usual.
There is a good service on the rest of the network.
