Auditor-general’s cross-examination adjourned

Auditor-General Odysseas Michaelides’ cross-examination at the Supreme Constitutional Court was adjourned on Wednesday to July 16.

The hearing was postponed for “reasons outside beyond the control of the Council”. Last Thursday, Michaelides’ cross-examination was postponed as one of the judges had a medical issue.

On July 16, the auditor-general is expected to have his final day of cross-examination which will begin at 9.30am.

Presiding Judge Antonis Liatsos said the Council seeks to stick to the initial timeframe and have all proceedings wrapped by July 19, before a decision is announced.

To this end, he called on both sides to make all necessary arrangements. Should this not be feasible, new dates will be issued towards the end of August.

Proceedings are part of the case filed by Attorney-General George Savvides seeking to have Michaelides dismissed on the grounds of inappropriate conduct.
