England fans on edge with cagey second half locked at 1-1 despite impressive first 45 minutes from Three Lions
ENGLAND fans are on edge as the Three Lions are locked at 1-1 with the Netherlands in a tense semi-final clash.
But they’re roaring Gareth Southgate’s men to victory in Dortmund.
Despite a much-improved performance from the Three Lions, they fell behind when Xavi Simons’ sent a rasping strike into the top corner.
But England hit back soon after as Harry Kane dispatched a penalty to bring the scores level again.
The England captain was taken out inside the box as he sent a volley towards goal, before converting from the spot after a VAR review.
And they were inches from taking a first-half lead as Phil Foden’s effort from inside the area was cleared off the line by Denzel Dumfries.
Foden went close again moments later as his curling effort from 25 yards struck the outside of the post.
England thought they had taken the lead with just 10 minutes to go as Bukayo Saka converted from close range.
But Kyle Walker had strayed offside moments before cutting the ball back to the Arsenal winger.
Gareth Southgate’s side are bidding to reach a second consecutive final of the Euros after losing on penalties to Italy at Wembley in 2021.
But they’re facing their toughest test of the tournament so far and gave up an early lead via a wonderful strike from Xavi Simons.
The winners of tonight’s tie will face Spain at the Olympiastadion in Berlin on Sunday.
Meanwhile, thousands of England fans have been enjoying the warm temperature in Dortmund today as they drunk beer with Dutch supporters before the game.
Many have donned their England shirts with pride as they will their country to victory.
