Le Frenchie by PUNIN awarded Wine Spectator 2024 Award of Excellence
Le Frenchie by PUNIN, a French restaurant in Limassol, has been recognised as one of the top restaurants worldwide, earning the Award of Excellence from Wine Spectator 2024.
This prestigious accolade highlights the restaurant’s exceptional wine list, which has received international acclaim from experts.
Located in the heart of Limassol’s old town, Le Frenchie by PUNIN offers a unique blend of fine wines and haute French cuisine.
The restaurant is renowned for its modern take on traditional French dishes, its Parisian bistro ambience, and its prime location.
Recently renovated for the 2023-24 season under the PUNIN GROUP, the restaurant has reopened with a fresh concept.
Dmitriy Punin, founder of PUNIN GROUP, commented on the award. “Receiving this award is the highest recognition of our restaurant team’s and sommeliers’ dedicated work. Although we have recently taken over the restaurant’s management, our long-time customers have already appreciated the improvements in quality and service,” he said.
“Our chef has developed a new menu, significantly reimagining old dishes, and we are now delighted to offer an entirely new menu of high French cuisine. Our sommeliers have thoroughly revised the wine list, adding rare and famous labels, including blue chips, introducing high-proof spirits, our own distillates, signature cocktails, and teas,” he further explained.
Punin also noted the complete redesign of the restaurant, which now features a more modern and discreet look.
“We are deeply grateful for the warm embrace and support we’ve received on Limassol’s gastronomic map. We will continue to work hard to ensure that Le Frenchie by PUNIN remains an authentic corner of France on our island,” he added.
Since 1981, the Wine Spectator Restaurant Awards have honoured the world’s best restaurants for their wine lists.
These awards aim to enhance wine selection and food pairing, monitor service levels globally, and encourage programmes that complement the diversity in cuisine, restaurant design, and pricing.
Each submitted wine list is evaluated by a panel of judges based on quality, range, depth, value, and presentation.
