‘It’s pornographic’ yells mum as she demands a popular swimsuit to be banned as she doesn’t want her son to see it
A CONCERNED mother is demanding a popular swimsuit to be banned, as she wants her son, eight, to be protected from it.
Amy Dixon, from New Zealand, is calling for what she describes as ”pornographic” garments to be banished from her local public swimming pool in New Plymouth.
Launching the petition, the mum, who has three sons, explained that this pool is a particularly popular choice amongst young children.
Amy, who was wondering if she was being a prude for demands, started the campaign after her eight-year-old son saw a young woman wearing a G-string while at his swimming lesson.
”The term itsy bitsy teeny weeny bikini seems to have taken on a whole new meaning,” she wrote on the petition page.
”It was pornographic,” the Kiwi told Taranaki Daily News.
”I don’t want to be an overprotective mum. Is that the space we’re in with society now? If so, I’ll find ways to prepare my kids for that. But do we have to do that?”
Although the centre’s rules note that women’s breasts should be adequately covered, it currently has no rule against walking around in a G-string.
On her petition page, Amy said that women wearing the popular garment have often left her family ”feeling uncomfortable and the enclosed area means looking away or moving spaces is not always an option”.
Since launching the petition, the parent has found a lot of support, with one social media user writing: ”Pools are generally kid places, the fact women think it’s OK to be so inappropriate is mind blowing”.
The signer remarked that the swimmers wearing teeny garments are, in their eyes, simply after attention.
”They just want to be looked at.”
Another agreed, writing: ”I want to have a fun family outing without bums up in my and my children’s faces”.
Amy’s petition page has also gained a lot of support elsewhere, including Australia.
One Aussie teacher noted that they see this happen ”frequently”, adding that it’s ”inappropriate for a child to be exposed” to a G-string.
‘Young kids don’t need to see women’s bums’
A similar campaign was recently started by another Australian man in the sunny Queensland, Daily Mail reported.
Ian Grace sparked fury after pleading for revealing swimwear to be banned from Gold Coast beaches, insisting that women are ”cheapening themselves” and the sight of skimpy bikinis was also making others ”uncomfortable”.
The community worker – who said that the ”real issue here is the men who might be ogling the girls” – detailed an incident when he walked past a woman who was wearing the popular summer garment.
