Zenless Zone Zero tier list: best characters for each role in Shiyu Defense mode
ZENLESS Zone Zero is the latest action RPG from HoYoverse, the minds behind Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail.
Like all of HoYoverse’s games, you’ll need to build up your party with diverse characters to fill each important role.
Lycaon is one of the game’s best characters[/caption]In Zenless Zone Zero, there are three main types of characters: DPS, stun and support, while your fourth slot is occupied by your Bangboo.
Your characters will depend on your builds and team compositions for peak performance, but a quick look at our tier list is a good starting point for the best characters.
Here are the Agents we recommend for the Shiyu Defense mode, which is based on quickly finishing off enemies, to help you get through as quickly and safely as possible.
Zenless Zone Zero: best DPS characters for Shiyu Defense
Ellen is one of the best characters in the game[/caption]The Ice Attack Agent Ellen is the best choice for DPS in Shiyu Defense thanks to her high mobility and rapid attack speed.
These are the most important factors when taking down Shiyu Defense, though Grace, Soldier 11, and Nekomata are all good choices.
- S-tier
- Ellen
- A-tier
- Grace, Soldier 11, and Nekomata
- B-tier
- Piper, Corin, and Anton
- C-tier
- Billy
Zenless Zone Zero: best Stun characters for Shiyu Defense
Lycaon is the best pick for Stun[/caption]There aren’t many characters to pick from to fulfil the Stun role, but we think Lycaon is the best fit.
As an Ice Stun Agent, he is great at inflicting Daze on enemies and helping to initiate Chain Attacks.

- Lycaon

- Koleda
- B-tier
- Anby
Zenless Zone Zero: best Support characters for Shiyu Defense
Rina is an amazing Support character no matter your composition[/caption]Our favourite Support character is Rina, and though she best supports shock compositions, as an Electric Support Agent, she works well on any team.
Lucy, Nicole and Soukaku are also great options for support if you don’t have Rina yet.
- S-tier
- Rina
- A-tier
- Lucy, Nicole or Soukaku
- B-tier
- Ben
It’s important to note that even if a character is lower tiered it doesn’t mean you shouldn’t use them.
With the right build, any character is viable, but using these higher-ranked players could make your job much easier.
