Rotterdam CVS manager charged with placing hidden camera in bathroom
ROTTERDAM, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Rotterdam Police Department announced the arrest of a Schenectady man following an investigation at a CVS Pharmacy in Rotterdam. Ahmad Ahmed, 25, was charged with second-degree unlawful surveillance.
On July 11 around 11:43 a.m., police responded to the CVS on Guilderland Avenue for a report that a recording device had been located in an employee bathroom. The recovered device had been plugged into a wall outlet, disguised to look like a USB charging cube.
The camera was seized and reviewed after an employee noticed and inspected the suspicious device. Police say the device contained a video of a female employee, but no indecent images were found. The ensuing investigation determined that a manager of the CVS, identified as Ahmed, was allegedly responsible for installing the recording device.
Ahmed was taken into custody before being released on an appearance ticket returnable to the Rotterdam Town Court at a later date. The investigation remains ongoing.
