Man stabs mother several times in Tigard apartment, police say

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- Police are investigating after a man allegedly stabbed his mother several times in her Tigard apartment early Friday afternoon.

Just before 1 p.m., officers were called to an apartment complex on Southwest North Dakota Street.

On arrival, police say a woman who lived at the complex came to a neighbor’s door saying she had just been stabbed by her son.

After officers found the victim in her apartment, she was taken to the hospital with what officials believe to be non-life-threatening injuries.

While officers were still at the scene, the woman's son called police from a nearby business to turn himself in, according to officials.

The 28-year-old man was booked into the Washington County Jail on charges including first-degree assault and unlawful use of a weapon.

No further information, including the identities of those involved, has been released at this time.

Officers believe multiple witnesses were in the area at the time of the incident and are encouraging anyone with information to come forward.
