CNN identifies suspect in Trump assassination attempt as Pennsylvania resident
Hours after the failed assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump, CNN reported that the suspected gunman at Mr. Trump’s campaign rally was a 20-year-old man from Pennsylvania.
According to CNN, the FBI has identified the attacker as “Thomas Matthew Crooks” from Pennsylvania.
Donald Trump, the former President of the United States and Republican Party nominee, escaped unharmed during a campaign gathering in Butler, Pennsylvania, on Saturday, July 13.
The Secret Service has confirmed that one attendee was killed, and two other Americans were severely injured as a result of the attempted assassination.
This attack has drawn widespread condemnation, including President Biden of the United States and leaders from several countries such as Britain, Canada, India, and Japan.
Additionally, ABC News, citing its sources, reported that the gunman likely acted alone and did not have accomplices targeting Trump.
U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken also condemned the attack on Donald Trump, stating he was “shocked and saddened” by the incident.
Meanwhile, the attempted assassination of Donald Trump has prompted significant international reactions and underscores ongoing concerns about political violence and security in the United States.
