Looking good in the right places
Hello Friends,
The swell was still going strong as Monday kicked off. As the pic above from just south of Surfrider Gardens shows, there were still some solid sets in the mix. However the main energy is now coming from the SE so spots like Northy which were good yesterday definitely aren’t this morning. Swell was 2.7 metres at 11.8 seconds as of 0700, so the best exposures were easily into the overhead range on those sets. Beginners should find waves at well protected corners this morning, but the open stretches are pretty much only suitable for confident intermediates and above. As always, study the conditions before you paddle out.
Wind was west at 10-15kts as of 0800. The Bureau tells us it’ll push into the 20-25 kt range later. Skies were largely clear at report time and should remain more or less so today. Tomorrow sees the wind getting stronger but staying out of the offshore quarters. Swell is due to dial back steadily and the weather call is for cloudy…
Go well!
Weather Situation
A low pressure system near Tasmania is generating a west to southwesterly airstream along the New South Wales coast. Winds will increase and tend west to northwesterly before shifting southerly along the southern half of the coast on Tuesday as the low pressure system wanders north. After this, the complex low pressure system is forecast to remain over the southern Tasman Sea.
