Moulton Falls bridge jumper saved in dramatic rescue
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- A person who jumped from the bridge area at Moulton Falls was seriously injured and rushed to the hospital after a dramatic rescue Sunday afternoon, Clark County officials said.
The incident -- the second similar incident at the spot within a week -- unfolded just before 5 p.m. Bystanders were already providing some help to the male while he was still in the water along the rocks under the Moulton Falls bridge. Firefighters from both Clark County districts 10 and 13 arrived to help, which included launching a 10-foot inflatable raft to aid in the rescue.
Firefighters and paramedics maneuvered the raft to where he was, stabilized him and got him secured on the raft to get out of the water, officials said.
Emergency responders then helped move the patient from the raft onto a specialized gurney, which was wheeled to a waiting ambulance.
Officials said the patient was seriously hurt but conscious and alert when he was put into the ambulance.
Moulton Falls is about a 40 minute drive from Vancouver.
