You’ve let us down’ rage Love Island fans as they slam Maya Jama for ‘going easy’ on Jess
LOVE Island fans have slammed Aftersun host Maya Jama for ‘going easy’ on Jess White.
Jess, who entered the villa at the start of the 2024 series, was dramatically dumped from the ITV2 show in a mass cull last Wednesday.

Appearing on Aftersun with her partner Hugo Godfroy, the pair reflected on their time in the villa.
Maya showed Jess a clip of Hugo discussing his feelings towards her in the villa, where he mentioned that “something was missing”.
Jess quickly defended Hugo, agreeing that they both felt the same way at the time but not all their conversations were shown on camera.
Maya then shifted the conversation to ask Jess about her situation with her former co-star, Harriet Blackmore.
“How are things left right now with harriet?” Maya asked.
Jess replied: “With me and Harriet, I don’t know how much was shown, but we actually had some brilliant times.
“Like, she was almost like a little sister. We are just very different people; we deal with situations differently, and that’s just what makes the world go around at the end of the day.
“But I got nothing but love for her, and it is what it is at the end of the day. But I got on with everyone in there, and I got a lot of love for everyone else.”
“So, no bad blood?” asked Maya.
“No, not on my behalf. At the end of the day, I hold no grudges, Maya,” Jess explained. “So, I say what I feel at the time, but there’s no grudges on my behalf for anything. I say what I say, and then I move on from it. That’s just the way I am.”
“Yeah, I’m not going to lie, I respect an honest woman. But I don’t really think before I speak either,” Maya Joked.
Fans were left fuming after Maya seemed to defend Jess’s actions towards Harriet, despite the public labelling Jess as a “bully.”
Taking to social media, one person on X, formerly Twitter, wrote: “Maya I respect an honest woman? After she called Harriett cheap? Lol.”
A second echoed: “Again she got let off too easily.”
Another commented: “I knew maya would play devils advocate.”
Jess and Harriet were embroiled in a love triangle with Ronnie Vint during much of the series and they came to blows on several occasions.
The shop manager was known for her fiery temperament and didn’t hold back when it came to letting people know what she thought.
This was shown in the famous Movie Night when her fellow islanders got to see a clip of what she had been saying behind their backs.
Despite this, she remained a popular islander with an army of fans who were sad to see her leave.
