BBC News’ Sophie Raworth reveals painful injury she’s been battling behind the scenes as she says ‘rehab starts now’
BBC News star Sophie Raworth has been battling a painful injury behind the scenes.
The veteran newsreader had to pull out of running the London Marathon in April at 20 miles after ‘blowing out’ her ankle – and she’s now revealed the damage is much worse than she first thought.

On-screen, she carried on with her presenting duties as normal, even fronting extended coverage of the General Election results.
But behind-the-scenes, it has been a different story as she has struggled with the aftermath of the huge running race.
The presenter uploaded a compilation video to her profile on X – formerly known as Twitter.
In the clip, her left foot was strapped into a walking boot brace as she used a mobility scooter to get around.
She seemed to make the best of her situation as she rode around the swanky studio at BBC‘s New Broadcasting House HQ.
Aside from the glamorous shots at work, she was also spotted using crutches as she practised walking.
Her injury also forced her to continue to wear protective equipment in the gym, as she still managed to fit in her obligatory workouts.
Sophie captioned the video: “That marathon injury turned out to be a little worse than I thought.
“Been on crutches and in a boot since start of June! But discovered knee scooters,” she wrote with a sarcastic crying emoji.
The star added: “Finally on the mend. Rehab starts now,” alongside a scooter and a puff of wind emoji.
At the time of the marathon back in April, Sophie told her loyal 79,000 followers that she injured her ankle in a previous Instagram post.
She was forced to rest her bandaged foot on a chair as she was looked over by helpful medics.
Sophie admitted: “Well I had a great 20 mile race. It all started so well!

“Annoying because I was doing ok. But my attempted 12th @londonmarathon became all about the kindness of strangers and the shoulders I was given to lean on.”
She added: “I always tell my kids it’s good to fail from time to time. I failed today. My 1st DNF in a marathon.
“But hopefully my ankle will be better in a few weeks and I can run again.
