Hairstylist reveals twice-a-day home remedy that can help grow locks – and 2 oils you can try in addition to rosemary
A TWICE daily hack that takes just five minutes can stimulate rapid hair growth, according to an expert.
Her little-known tips for nurturing tresses include topical treatments and foods that boost hair health.
Olivia Jones boasts a wealth of experience as a hairdresser at the UK-based salon MacleodBradley.
Speaking to The U.S. Sun, she shared advice for promoting hair growth.
OUTSTANDING OILS
Jones said essential oils used alongside scalp massages and hair products with effective ingredients can transform locks.
“If you want to improve your hair growth massaging the scalp twice a day can be of benefit to you,” she said
“You can do this with or without essential oils for a minimum of five minutes per massage.
“Work your way across your scalp to cover all areas.”
Coconut oil, aloe, rosemary oil, and jojoba oil are among the best ingredients for hair care.
“Rosemary oil in particular has gone viral for the results shown for hair growth,” she said.
She added that anyone experiencing hair loss should also ensure they are using biotin.
“Biotin produces keratin, which contributes to healthy hair growth,” she said.
FOOD FOR THOUGHT
Jones said a nutrient-rich diet is “super important” alongside topical treatments for thriving tresses.
“The right diet for maintaining and promoting thick healthy hair should include vitamins and minerals like biotin, zinc, iron, and vitamin A,” she said.
“You can get all these from foods like salmon, spinach, blueberries, avocados, and many more.”
She said hair growth varies by person and it can take up to nine months to obtain full tresses.

SUPER STYLES
Jones said hereditary hair loss is the most common cause of thinning, but hormonal changes and stress can also cause shedding.
She warned that traction alopecia caused by wearing tight hairstyles can cause “permanent damage.”
Putting tension on strands can affect the speed at which hair grows.
“Hairstyles that can prevent this are loose buns using small claw clips or a soft silk scrunchie,” Jones said.
“Loose plaits from the base of the neck, not of the scalp, can be a great alternative to a regular pony.”
