‘Noxious substance’ thrown over group during ‘burglary’ as cops make arrest & launch urgent probe
A MAN has been arrested after several people were injured in a suspected “noxious substance” attack during an alleged burglary in West Sussex.
Police have launched an urgent probe after the incident which saw part of Sturges Road in Bognor Regis closed at around 4pm on Sunday.
Emergency crews responded to a disturbance at an address on the road after reports a substance had been thrown.
The ambulance service treated people at the scene.
Investigators have not yet confirmed the exact number of people injured.
A man was arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary and remains in custody, reports the BBC.
A spokesperson for Sussex Police told The Argus: “It is believed a suspected noxious substance may have been thrown during the course of the incident.
“One arrest has been made.
“The ambulance service has treated people for injuries, believed to be in connection with the suspected noxious substance.”
Witnesses with information, CCTV, mobile phone or doorbell footage, is asked to report it to Sussex Police online, quoting serial 780 of 14/07.
