Drone delivers two packages into central prison
A drone illegally delivered two packages into the central prison on Sunday night.
Prison guards spotted the drone between 10pm and 11pm, and witnessed it fly into the prison’s grounds and deposit the two packages near a residential wing.
They then confiscated the packages and found them to contain a mobile phone and chargers.
The confiscated items were then handed over to the police, with the hope that further investigation may lead to the perpetrators being identified.
The latest operation comes after a drone which took off from the buffer zone dropped seven mobile phones into the prison’s grounds a week previously. On that occasion, all seven phones were confiscated by the guards.
The police’s investigation into the matter is ongoing.
