Draft targets, day 2 (and 3ish)
Guardians had a typical day 1 selecting traits they like over size/athleticism. Bazzana was the one I wanted and he just had the most consistent track record and this game is about consistency. Doughty was rumored as high as 24th to the Braves, but they had Caminiti fall to the, which helped get Doughty get to 36. Good mix of now stuff, pitchability, command and upside left. That first round gets an easy A.
In round 2, they took a college C in Jacob Cozart, a very boring and kinda disappointing pick tbh. They like up the middle defense and ACC bats and Cozart checks both boxes. I believe they bought high here banking on his increased power to play. They probably saw another Cal Raleigh here, another former ACC catcher, very similar profiles and I can't really blame them going floor over ceiling (with more risk).
On to day 2....the last remaining target from day and my clear BPA is CF Mike Sirota. HS RHP Dax Whitney comes in 2nd.
After those two, it's wide open....there are some college arms like LHP Prager or RHPs Ziehl and D. Eagen with fair value in round 3, but I'd go after more upside in rd 3 and punt the run on college arms to rounds 4 or 5+
HS I like
OF/C James Nunnallee
INF Brendan Lawson
C N. Flewelling
RHP Josiah Romeo
LHP Johnny King
LHP Mason Russell
LHP Cole Gibler
RHP Grant Shepardson
RHP Cade Townsend
Most of the college arms pool I name dropped in my mocks in the comments. Really like B. Holiday and B. Neely. And Doktorczyk, Gallagher and Kmatz are my deep sleepers I wouldn't mind "overdraft" on day 2.
If we go with an injury discount: Sinnard, Dohm, Forcucci, Jerzembeck. Kinda like Josh Randall and rSO LHP Andrew Healy. Then there's K/BB darlings Brink, Casey, Cates, M. Ross....and the bad draft year bunch of M. Ager, Hartle, M. Molina. Still probably forgot a few. It's a deep group left to chose from.
College bats there are some small school darlings like Sean Keys, JJ Gazdar, Woody Hadeen etc. From bigger conferences N. McLain, Gage Miller, S. Mershon (rSO), Core Jackson, R. Campos, Bazzell
Should have some money left to spend, as I'd guess they are a healthy 1M under slot if not much more, plus the extra 900K, so there could be a couple of upside shots mixed in today and tomorrow. They landed a safe floor day 1, so I anticipate them being more aggressive now, both with HS raw risk and college injury risk. Still would be nice to start the day with Sirota....
