MANHATTAN (KSNT) - K-State starting pitcher Jackson Wentworth is getting his shot at the next level.
Wentworth, a right-handed pitcher, was selected in the fifth round, No. 158 overall, by the Toronto Blue Jays. The redshirt junior is the third Wildcat to be selected in the 2024 MLB draft, following fellow pitcher Tyson Neighbors who was picked in the third round and infielder Kaelen Culpepper who was picked in the first round.
Wentworth boasted a 4.24 ERA in 2024, striking out 115 batters in 87 innings pitched. He assembled a season-high 11-strikeout game against BYU in May.
The former 'Cat was a cornerstone for K-State's 2024 season that ended in the NCAA super regionals.
