Caitlin Clark sounds ready to take a quick break from basketball, even if it will be weird.
The Indiana Fever have officially reached the WNBA Olympic break, as Wednesday night’s 101-93 loss to the Dallas Wings is the team’s last game until a home tilt against the Phoenix Mercury on Aug. 16.
As hard as it is to believe, Clark hasn’t had much of a break from basketball since starting her final season at Iowa since the 2024 WNBA Draft was right after her last March Madness run with the Hawkeyes.
While speaking with reporters before Wednesday night’s game, Clark talked about how strange it will be to actually take a break from basketball for a week before returning to Indianapolis for training.
“I told [Fever coach Christie Sides], I was like, it’s probably going to feel really weird,” Clark said, via Clutch Points’ Matthew Byrne. “Like I’m probably going to be, like, anxious that I’m not touching a basketball, but, like, I need to not.”
Caitlin Clark on the break, hinting she and the Fever will likely have that first week off: "I told Christie, I was like, it's probably going to feel really weird. Like I'm probably going to be like, anxious that I'm not touching a basketball–– but I need to not."
That’s a very relatable feeling for anybody who hasn’t had a break from their job in quite some time, as we’re sure Clark is more than happy to put the basketball down after this weekend’s WNBA All-Star Game and get some rest.
