Man Utd have just 'entered the scene' to sign £51m Euro 2024 winner - report
Manchester United have already made two signings during the summer transfer window and there could be more arrivals in the forthcoming weeks.
The club are presently in talks with Paris Saint-Germain for Manuel Ugarte and AS (page 16) claim that they are also keen on signing Dani Olmo.
The Spanish publication claim that United have firmly entered the scene to sign the RB Leipzig star, who has a £51 million release clause expiring tomorrow.
United are unlikely to trigger the buy-out clause for the Spaniard, but it is reported that Leipzig would be open to negotiating his potential transfer.
However, AS add that Leipzig are tough negotiators and won’t let him go on the cheap.
Olmo would be a risky signing due to his injury record
The 26-year-old is one of the best playmakers in Spain and he showed his worth at the European Championship after an early setback for Pedri.
Olmo registered three goals and two assists at the tournament and also excelled with his chance creation. He averaged almost two key passes per game.
Despite the positives, the Barcelona graduate has been injury-prone in his career. He missed 29 games for club and country last season with multiple setbacks.
It was the same case prior to that. He missed 20 and 19 games during the 2022/23 and 2021/22 seasons.
With his concerning injury record, he would represent a risky signing for the Red Devils, who recently has a dismal league campaign ravaged by countless injuries.
The last thing United would want is another injury-prone player. We would be surprised if United approach Leipzig to sign the former Dynamo Zagreb man.
