‘Don’t you dare, take it off’ people gasp at woman’s ‘inappropriate’ wedding guest dress & say they’d ‘throw wine at it’
A WOMAN has left people gasping after showing off the dress she plans to wear for an upcoming wedding.
Katie, owner of Brooklyn Blvd, a woman’s boutique with ‘timeless fashion for the modern woman’, revealed that she plans to wear a ‘cream’, corset-style dress to an upcoming nuptials.
But people claimed that her dress “should not be worn to a wedding” and many said that they would throw red wine on it if they saw it at someone’s big day.
The brunette beauty took to social media to show off her frock, which she styled with a pair of white sling-back heels.
Katie curled her hair and wore gold jewellery, as she asked her followers: “Is this dress too white to wear to a wedding? HELP.”
The content creator, who lives in Nashville, US, gave people a close-up look at the dress, which she claimed isn’t white.
She explained: “The dress is obviously cream… not too white?!?”
Katie’s midi length frock has a gorgeous white-looking skirt, and a colourful corset top.
The 25-year-old influencer, who has a passion for fashion, turned around to show off a full look at the square back of the dress.
But the TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @shopbrooklynblvd, has clearly left many open-mouthed, as it has quickly amassed 1.3 million views.
Social media users were left gobsmacked at Katie’s wedding guest dress – and not only did people hail it ‘inappropriate’, but many claimed that it would be ‘disrespectful’ to wear it.
NO WHITE ALLOWED
One person said: “No shade of white including cream, ivory, beige, anything remotely close should be worn to a wedding!”
Another added: “Girl it’s common sense to never wear white to a wedding, ANY shade of white.”
Someone else asked: “Is this satire?????”
To this, Katie confirmed: “Absolutely not.”

Josie Griffiths said: I tend to consider myself pretty low maintenance from a fashion and beauty point of view.
I can be out the door in 20 minutes in the morning, normally do my mascara on the bus or the Tube, and spend my work from home days in my gym gear.
But when it comes to my wedding this summer, that’s all gone out the window.
Professional hair and makeup is booked for 8am, I’ve gone all out on my wedding dress, got designer shoes and even bought a second dress for the evening do.
So when I think about someone wearing a white gown to my big day, yeah I think I’d be pretty mad.
The idea behind not wearing a white dress goes back to not wanting to ‘upstage the bride’.
Which, to be fair, is unlikely. Not only has she possibly spent a small fortune on her look for the day, she’s also one of the only two people present who knows (and hopefully likes) all the guests.
So the main risk you’re taking is just making yourself look quite silly – and getting gossiped about by total strangers.
A wedding guest I met in October 2022 still sticks out in my mind. I still don’t know what was worse – the fact she was so drunk she was crashing into people on the dance floor, or her decision to wear a white dress, which was arguably marginally improved by the glass of red wine she’d drunkenly tipped down herself.
I know weddings are expensive for everyone and it’s fair enough if you don’t want to buy a whole new outfit – I’m all for re-using what’s already in your wardrobe.
Just avoid the white dress for the bride’s sake – and your own.
Whilst one user wrote: “Cute dress, but girl you know better!!”
Katie then claimed: “It’s cream!! Very different from stark white!”
NOT APPROPRIATE
Not only this, but many social media users ordered Katie to “take it off now”, as another advised: “Don’t you dare.”
Another chimed in: “It would be disrespectful to wear it.”
Wedding Guest Outfit Etiquette

- Folklore says that wearing red at a wedding means you slept with the groom.
- Casual attire like jeans and flip flops should always be avoided.
- Any colour that could be picked up as white or cream – even if it’s not.
- Most would agree that your cleavage needs to be covered.
- Wearing white is a massive no-no if you’re not the bride.
Whilst one woman explained: “If someone wore that to my wedding I’d literally never speak to them again.”
At the same time, one fashion fan warned: “Please don’t be inappropriate at someone’s wedding.”
TIME FOR WINE
Clearly very stunned at the dress, many social media users claimed that they would throw red wine over it.
One woman shared: “Red wine immediately.”
A second agreed: “It will be red if you show up my wedding like that.”
Whilst a third penned: “I’m throwing wine on it.”
