‘You’ve won the lottery!’ home owners scream as couple pull up their grubby, old carpet & make an incredible discovery
A COUPLE have shared the moment they made a shocking discovery after moving into their new home.
Josh and other half Emily hated the grubby, old-fashioned carpet in their new abode, so decided to pull it up in the hope there was something salvageable underneath.
They pulled back the curtain to discover diamond parquet flooring[/caption]They documented the process in a video on his TikTok page, as he said: “We are going to pull up the carpet for the first time, and hopefully there will be some nice flooring.”
He then began to peel back the layers of carpet and underlay to reveal the floor underneath, and his partner couldn’t hide her delight as she spotted what looked like parquet.
As he continued to reveal the flooring, she squealed in excitement as she realised it was the coveted diamond parquet.
“This is insane!” Josh said, as Emily could be heard in the background exclaiming that it was “really good quality too”.
Josh also added that he reckoned the parquet went from that room and into the lounge, as it all had the same carpet.
“This was the moment we first saw the flooring,” they captioned the video.
Parquet flooring is known for being expensive, and homeowners can expect to pay an upwards of £2,000 for a small room.
Given that Josh and his other half appear to have the flooring in two large rooms, it would probably have cost thousands to lay.
The price is increased depending on the type of wood used for the flooring, with one person even speculating that it looked like walnut – one of the most expensive materials.
People were quick to comment on the video, with one writing: “You hit the floor lottery!!!!”
“That is exquisitely phenomenal!!!” another added.
“OMGGGGG,” a third commented.
“That’s frikin hot!!!” someone else wrote.
“Me and my partner have just moved out and I want WOOD flooring, if I see this I’m crying!
“So happy for you!”
“You didn’t just strike gold – that’s finding diamond,” another commented.
“It’s beautiful!”
“I would never stop crying. They’re so beautiful,” someone else gushed.
