Schenectady man wins $3M on scratch-off ticket
SCHNECTADY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A Capital Region man has claimed the top prize on a scratch-off ticket. John Terry of Schenectady won $3 million on the New York Lottery’s Xtreme Cash scratch-off game.
According to the New York Lottery, Terry received a single, lump sum payment of $1,406,160 after required withholdings. The winning ticket was bought at Hannaford at 96 Wolf Road in Colonie.
The New York Lottery said two top prizes remain on the Xtreme Cash game. Players can check the status of any New York Lottery scratch-off game by downloading the Game Report.
New York scratch-off games generated $4,406,338,198 in total sales during the 2022-2023 fiscal year. Officials said school districts in Schenectady County received $48,224,180 in Lottery Aid to Education funds during that time.
