Pizza survey reveals New York style is a nationwide favorite

0

NEW YORK (PIX11) -- People can get saucy about their pizza but one thing most agree on, fresh ingredients make the best slice.

That’s according to a new Pizza Pulse Survey from BLACK + DECKER. The company polled 400 men and women, 18 years old and above. Some 84% of those pizza eaters agreed that fresh ingredients are the best while 67% say pepperoni was their favorite topping.

Trailing behind pepperoni as a top favorite was sausage, coming in second with 44% of the vote. Some 39% of people said bacon was their favorite addition while 32% voted for mushrooms. On the other hand, anchovies came in dead last with only 1% voting for it as their go to pizza topping.

As a New York City staple, Classic New York Style pizza beat out deep dish as a favorite by 29% while Neapolitan style trailed behind with 2.5% of votes.

Most people in the Northeast said they love pairing their favorite slice with board game night, unlike Midwesterners who loved pizza during a sports outing or southerners who juggled pizza with video gaming.

Despite New Yorkers being known for folding their slices on the go, only 9% of people said they eat their pizza folded. Meanwhile more than half of the pizza-loving respondents said they simply enjoy their slices by holding the crust.
