Teenager arrested in NYC baseball bat attack: NYPD

MANHATTAN, N.Y. (PIX11) – A teenager was arrested related to a baseball bat attack caught on camera in Lower Manhattan last month, according to the NYPD. 

A 14-year-old now faces assault charges related to the June 25 attack near Monroe Street near Market Street in broad daylight, police said. 

A 58-year-old woman was “shocked” when two people approached her from behind and started punching her and attacking her with a bat, leaving her with bruises, according to police and the woman’s son. 

The incident was caught on video, which shows the woman walking on the sidewalk as the two people run up from behind. 

She was taken to an area hospital in stable condition.

"They shoved the woman down and started beating her with a bat. I heard her scream like a blood-curdling scream,” a 23-year-old witness told PIX11 News.
