Report: Good news for Tottenham as talks are finally progressing with AC Milan
Gianluca Dimarzio reports that talks are finally progressing between Tottenham and AC Milan over the transfer of Emerson Royal this summer.
AC Milan walked away from Tottenham
GiveMeSport reported last week that AC Milan’s talks with Tottenham had stalled due to a disagreement over Emerson Royal’s price tag this summer.
Alasdair Gold also revealed that while Milan bid £8.4m for Emerson’s services, Tottenham were holding out for exactly double that figure (£16.8m), leaving a huge gap between the two clubs.
However, Fabrizio Romano says the Serie A side have already agreed personal terms on a five-year deal with Emerson himself, meaning club negotiations are all that stand in the way of a potential deal.
Spurs are closer to selling Emerson Royal
Dimarzio reports that AC Milan have made another approach to Tottenham about signing Emerson Royal this summer, seemingly putting an end to the previous roadblock.
The gap between Milan and Spurs is said to be ‘thinning’ and the Serie A giants hope to complete a deal for the Brazilian right-back in the next few days.
The timing of this breakthrough seems a little peculiar though, as Emerson was named in Tottenham’s pre-season tour of Asia squad, despite Sergio Reguilon and Bryan Gil being left at home to pursue transfers away from North London.
Spurs Web Opinion:
I’m not sure I quite trust the timing of this report, unless AC Milan literally got back in touch with Tottenham after they had already left for their pre-season tour.
If a deal was close, I don’t think Emerson would be in Japan with the squad right now. But I hope the two clubs can find an agreement, with a fee of around £15m in the next week.
