ATV rider targeting Trump supporters runs over 80-year-old placing sign: authorities
An 80-year-old who was posting a political sign in Michigan was hit by an ATV rider who authorities say was targeting supporters of former President Donald Trump.
A 22-year-old man told police in Hancock he wanted to "confess a crime involving an ATV driver within the last 24 hours," the Houghton County Sheriff's Office said in a news release Tuesday.
Officers were called to a Samson Street home in Quincy Township on Monday and found the suspect dead with a self-inflicted gunshot wound, authorities said.

A search of the home revealed several electronic devices, which will be investigated by computer forensic experts. A four-wheeler used during the attack was also found, authorities said, as well as the clothes worn by the attacker.
"The crimes reported in the city of Hancock appear to be politically motivated, involving victims who displayed Trump election signs as well as law enforcement appreciation stickers and flags commonly referred to as 'thin blue line' paraphernalia," the sheriff's office said.
There was no further threat, authorities said.
The attack comes days after the attempted assassination of Trump, which left the Republican presidential nominee with a bloody ear wound.
