Paphos private school reported for false advertising

0

The ministry of education on Wednesday filed a complaint with the police over illegal advertising by an upcoming new private school in Paphos.

The ministry charged in its complaint that the facilities were not yet in a state of readiness to receive students and had not yet received final permission, yet, nonetheless the school was advertising its opening in September, which is illegal.

Schools must receive a final approval and an operating license before they can advertise for admissions, the ministry said.

About a month and a half before the start of the new school year, photos reveal the school to be far from ready to receive pupils, Philenews reported.

The school’s website says the school will offer both primary and secondary education, up to grade 9. However, applications for approval of its infrastructure and buildings have yet to be filed.

A ministry source told the daily that the curriculum to be offered has been evaluated and approved but the licence to operate will only be given when all other permits are submitted.
