Tottenham’s interest in attacker is ‘more advanced’ than Man City – Journalist

Tottenham’s interest in Crystal Palace star, Eberechi Eze, is more advanced than that of Manchester City so far this summer, Alex Crook reveals.

It has long since been reported Tottenham want to sign Eberechi Eze this summer, with the Crystal Palace winger being one of Ange Postecoglou’s top targets (TEAMtalk).

The Athletic reported at the start of July that Eze has a release clause worth around £60m plus add-ons, but Manchester City were not expected to get involved in the race for his signature.

That changed this week, with The Mirror reporting that City would look to the likes of Eze this summer if they need to replace Kevin de Bruyne, who is being linked with a possible exit.

Football Transfers say that Tottenham see Eze as the perfect man to replace Heung-min Son over the long term, while GiveMeSport have given the Lilywhites a potential boost in the race.

Eze himself is apparently keen to remain in London this season, which would thrust Tottenham to the front of the queue if he were to move, making things much harder for Manchester-based City.

Alex Crook has now revealed that Tottenham’s interest in the creative midfielder is genuine and more advanced than Man City’s, but Spurs do need to sell before buying.

Speaking on the Premier League All Access Podcast, Alex Crook said: “They’re keen on Eze as well. I reported that on the transfer notebook a few weeks ago. Tottenham’s interest is genuine, but they need to shift players on.

“I would say that Tottenham’s interest is more advanced (than City’s) in terms of this summer. With City, it would depend on De Bruyne leaving and we don’t think that will happen this summer, probably more likely next.”

I also get the impression that Tottenham want to sell first this summer, whether that be a big name like Richarlison or a bunch of unwanted players like Emerson, Lo Celso, Gil and Reguilon.

I fail to believe that Archie Gray was the top target of the summer, which leads me to believe that something big is coming for Tottenham in the next few weeks.
