Gamethread: White Sox at Rangers
Five losses away from a losing season ... and we’re still in July
Here we are, back at it again, giving hope to another time that probably should have packed its bags on the season already.
The third of this four-game set pits Chris Flexen against Nathan Eovaldi in as disadvantageous a matchup as you’re gonna get in this series.
Sorry to keep beating this but Brooks Baldwin is starting his sixth straight game and it’s sort of astounding the White Sox are sticking by him for a week’s worth of games in spite of a slow start. That Lenyn Sosa and José Rodríguez didn’t get the same consideration isn’t the point, at least completely. But if the White Sox do make a true call-up of a prospect, they need to give him the time to see if he belongs. It would be nice to see the front office and Pedro Grifol start to practice this without getting into Baseball IQ or other stammering that makes it seem like you should be Rooney Ruled out of baseball entirely.

It’s a 7:05 p.m. start once more, with the usual broadcast suspects. Perhaps John Schiffren won’t forget the score tonight.
