‘I love it’ people yell as woman shows off her epic £40 bathroom makeover, including old bits from her bunk bed
USING a bunk bed for your bathroom may not necessarily be the first idea to spring to mind when it comes to a DIY makeover.
However, one cash-savvy woman, Maryam Maryam, recently did just this – and the epic glow-up has wowed Facebook users.
Although the downstairs loo was stunning and clean to begin with, the DIY-loving woman decided to zhuzh it up[/caption] The overall costs came to a purse-friendly £40, as Maryam used an old bunk bed[/caption] The jungle-themed makeover has already become a massive hit on Facebook – and Maryam revealed she will be working on her garage next[/caption]Sharing the jaw-dropping Before and After snaps on the popular DIY On A Budget Official page, Maryam revealed that in total she’d spent a mere £40 for the transformation of her downstairs toilet.
The original loo, she showed in the post, was stunning and neat to begin with, featuring basic white walls with a wooden print wallpaper on one of them, an orchid on a clear shelf, as well as dark blinds with gem detailing.
However, whilst the overall aesthetic was fabulous, Maryam decided she wanted to zhuzh it up and add some character by going totally wild with the on-trend palm look.
First, the DIY fanatic found a Swiss Cheese plant-inspired fabric which she used to transform the old blinds, neatly attaching it with a needle and some string.
Once that was ready, it was time to move onto creating a feature wall – but instead of forking out a fortune for ready mouldings, the cash-savvy woman made use of an old bunk bed.
After she’d measured the wooden planks, she attached nailed them to the wall by the toilet and the tiny sink, going for a more rectangular shape.
With the bunk bed bits attached to the wall, she then painted the area in a gorgeous dark green colour, before adding a stunning golden wallpaper in-between the planks.
The existing chandelier was also totally revamped and given a new aesthetic to – going in with the jungle theme, Maryam attached fake plant leaves, keeping some of the crystals for a more glam look.
All chuffed with the epic transformation, the DIY whizz said: ”My downstairs toilet total cost around £40. I love it.
”I’ve had such a mixed response with friends and family that I was hesitant to post,” she bravely confessed.
But whilst her pals and relatives may have not all been fans of the glow-up, social media users were totally obsessed, racing to praise Maryam for the creativity.
”OMG I love it, especially the light shade ,” wrote one member of the page.
Someone else added: ”I was looking through the photos and thought to myself I’m not crazy about the light shade but then when I saw it all together, I thought it looks fantastic! Well done .”

”[£40] that was for the paint, pictures, mats and towels, artificial plants and wood glue.
”I had all the decorating brushes etc, the wood was from bunk bed slats, the light shade was made with the artificial plants, and the mirror was found at the local recycling centre when I went to dump old carpets.”
