Stand-off at apartment complex leads to one arrest

WARR ACRES, Okla. (KFOR) — A stand-off at the Woodbrier Apartments in Warr Acres leads to one person in custody.

Police were called after neighbors heard gunshots, leading to a stand-off with police for about 10 minutes before the suspect gave himself up.

"He never text me unless it is something dire," Hailey Hudson, neighbor said.

Hudson, the neighbor of the suspect firing shots received odd text messages before everything went down.

"When he did and he was saying all these off the wall things, that's when I was like, hmm, something ain't right," Hudson said.

Just before 6 p.m. Wednesday, Warr Acres police received a call about a man acting erratic with a gun.

"Officers responded to a call at 5610 on Woodward Drive in reference to shots being fired," Michael Anderson, Chief of Police for Warr Acres said. "As officers arrived, they heard other shots coming out. What has been determined is somewhere between five to six shots."

Neighbors realized the suspect wasn't acting like himself, so they tried to help.

"I knocked on his door and I stepped back and I looked and he had his gun, like he was worried about something going on," Hudson said.

She believes the suspect was having a mental breakdown.

"He's off of his medication," Hudson said. "He just lost his job, so he's spiraling."

Police tell us no one was injured from the shots fired.

"The individual firing the shots has been taken into custody and the scene has been secured," Chief Anderson said.

This is an on-going investigation as police work to learn what started everything. News 4 will update you once we know more.
