Kourion sex tape ‘desecrates’ ancient site
A sex tape was “illegally” shot recently at the ancient theatre of Kourion, it emerged on Thursday, as the antiquities department hunted for the couple concerned.
The Polish couple has an account on the well-known website PornHub, where they published a vlog of their scandalous tryst in Kourion.
From the video scenes, it appears that the couple shot the footage at a time people may have been around.
Speaking to AlphaNews, the director of the antiquities department Georgios Georgiou said that officials are on the hunt for the couple that recorded the footage at the archaeological site.
Georgiou described the act as “foolish” with the aim of financial gain, which he said desecrates the archaeological site of Kourion.
“As soon as we were informed of the incident, I sent a letter to the police chief, asking for assistance to prosecute the people responsible. I hope by technical means we can establish the day and time so that we can help,” he said.
Georgiou explained that the legislation in the country where the website is based should be examined first and foremost and referred to “several factors” that could potentially affect the outcome of the case.
“The issue here is the violation of the security of the archaeological site. And for some time now we have been in the process of surveillance by technological means and we have made it a priority in archaeological sites with higher traffic,” he said.
Georgiou added that in Paphos surveillance has already been installed at the site, as there had been some incidents of offensive behaviour conducted there in the past.
He added the responsibility of guarding the Kourion archaeological site is held by archaeological department guards. The newer tech methods do not only operate during working hours, but also when the sites are closed.
Kourion’s site is within the British bases area, meaning that if the matter is taken up by police it will be in cooperation with the bases’ authorities.

Speaking to the Cyprus Mail, sources within the bases said that there was no official complaint filed about the incident, which appeared to have happened a month ago.
The same sources said that if the incident does get reported then the authorities in the bases would likely be looking into the matter as an act of public indecency.
