Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the Kargil War Memorial on July 26, 2024, to pay homage to fallen soldiers. He also virtually inaugurated the Shinkun La Tunnel Project. This twin-tube tunnel at 15,800 feet on the Nimu-Padum-Darcha road will provide year-round connectivity to Leh, enhancing both military efficiency and regional development.
