Skate back in time at a new roller rink that’s coming to Santa Monica this summer
Get ready to get your nostalgia on because Santa Monica is going old school with a new roller skating rink located in the heart of downtown.
Tickets are now on sale for Roll @ Santa Monica, a seasonal rink that opens Aug. 10 and runs through Oct. 14. The 4,800 square-foot outdoor rink will be located at 1324 Fifth St. and will be open from noon to 10 p.m. Sundays-Thursdays and noon to 11 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.
While Santa Monica has long offered an ice rink during winter, this is the first time the city has hosted a roller skating rink. And people can expect a nostalgic good time with themed nights on Aug. 14, Sept. 11 and Oct. 9 from 6 to 10 p.m. that will include music and other entertainment.
And if you can’t skate, don’t worry about it because the LA Skate Hunnies, a female-founded skate group that offers lessons and organizes meetups and pop-up skate events, will offer group skating lessons every Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to noon.
A Grand Opening Celebration will take place from 12-2 p.m. and 3-6 p.m. on Aug. 10. Tickets are $18.14 per person with taxes, which includes skate rental for 120 minutes of skating. The rink is also available for private events.
