'Trump did not look so great': Fox News guest slams rambling interview from same network

A Democratic strategist openly mocked Donald Trump's appearance Thursday morning on Fox News during a follow-up segment on Fox News.

Michael Meehan, a communications strategist who has worked with former President Barack Obama's administration, skewered Trump after anchor Dana Perino tried to lambast President Joe Biden's national address formally announcing his campaign's end.

"I wanted to love the speech and I didn't," Perino said. "It rang hollow."

While Perino argued Biden needed to explain why he hadn't "passed the torch" before now, Meehan said he found the speech laudable.

"The guy gets to have his last ten minutes where he gets to frame why he stepped out of the race," Meehan said. "I think Biden gets credit for coming to the realization that the things that he cares about would not be passed along if he continued in the race."

Meehan brushed off the complaints about Biden's age as old news and argued the president's 81 years were the sole reason he was forced to step aside.

As proof, Meehan referenced polls that found about 70 percent of Americans believe he should remain in office until January 2025.

"He had a successful term," Meehan said. "If he was 61 he would easily win re-election."
