'You are so cute': Ex-Trump official laughingly dismissed by CNN political analyst
A former official in Donald Trump's administration was laughingly dismissed on air Friday when he tried to defend his former boss' position in the upcoming presidential election.
Matt Mowers, a political strategist who lost his own congressional primary race in 2022, proved unable to convince CNN political analyst Maria Cardona that Trump could deliver a focused political challenge to Vice President Kamala Harris' campaign.
"Matt, you are so cute thinking that Donald Trump is going to stick to just policies and that he's going to be able to be disciplined," Cardona told Mowers. "You know he can't help himself."
Mowers delivered a lengthy list of reasons conservative voters would shy away from supporting a former San Francisco prosecutor and running mate to President Joe Biden, whose policies on immigration and economy contrast sharply with MAGA views.
Cardona condescended to give Mowers a verbal pat on the head and then shredded his belief Trump could deliver such a message.

"He should focus on all of that," Cardona said. "But you know he can't help himself. He's going to go for the race he's going to go for the sexism. He's going to go for the misogyny. He's already gone there."
Cardona described Harris as a "poisonous cauldron of political kryptonite" for Trump, arguing neither he nor his team understood how to mount a political attack against a powerful woman of color.
"I think it explodes his mind," Cardona said. "I think that him now waffling, and his team waffling, on the debates doesn't surprise me one iota."
That's when host Jim Acosta played a series of clips of Trump affirming his willingness to debate Harris and asked Mowers why he thought Trump suddenly backed out.
"I think he's going to debate Kamala Harris," said Mowers. "A debate about debates is nothing new."
Cordona replied she looked forward to a debate between the presumed Democratic nominee, a former prosecutor, and the confirmed Republican nominee, a convicted felon.
"Frankly Kamala Harris has policies beside Joe Biden, what they have done in the last three-and-a-half years are incredibly popular," Cordona said. "So, yes let's do policies. She will wipe the floor with Donald Trump."
