Wei-Chi Lin sparks Chinese Taipei past Great Britain

Chinese Taipei earned their fourth win of the tournament by defeating Great Britain 10-0 in four innings on Thursday, securing their spot in Saturday's Play-Offs at the WBSC U-18 Women’s Softball World Cup Group A at Estádio Municipal de Beisebol Mie Nishi in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Chinese Taipei exhibited a dominant performance, takingcontrol early and never looking back. Wei-Chi Lin went 3-for-3 with two runsscored, while Yu-Ling Wu finished 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBIs, leadingthe Asian lineup. Clean-up hitter Jia-Jhen Cheng collected two RBIs, nowleading the tournament with nine in four games.

Yi-Ting Chou earned the win after pitching 1.1 innings, giving up one hit while striking out one, and lowered her ERA to 0.84 in the tournament, ranking second in this department.

Chinese Taipei took a three-run lead in the bottom of thefirst inning, highlighted by a two-run inside-the-park home run by rightfielder Yu-Hsin Chiu. The Asians added another big inning in the second,scoring four more runs, including a bases-loaded two-run single by Wu and atwo-RBI single by Cheng, taking a 7-0 lead.

In the third inning, Chinese Taipei added two more runs on apassed ball and a sac bunt, extending their lead to 9-0. The game ended in thefourth inning when Lin hit a walk-off triple to the left field corner, sealinga 10-0 victory in four innings.
