Bronx man sentenced for Ulster County drug conspiracy
ULSTER COUNTY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The U.S. Attorney's Office announced the sentencing of Nicholas Colon, 37, of the Bronx, in a drug trafficking case. Colon now faces three years and 10 months in prison.
Colon previously pleaded guilty to conspiring to possess cocaine with the intent to distribute it. He admitted to driving with another accomplice, Kenny Gonzalez, from Long Island to Queens where the two picked up just under four and a half pounds of cocaine.
Colon confessed that the two then drove north, planning to sell cocaine in New York's Northern District, but were ultimately stopped and arrested in Ulster County. In addition to the prison sentence, Colon was ordered to serve a four-year term of post-release supervision.
According to the U.S. Attorney's Office, Gonzalez was sentenced to five years in prison earlier in the case's proceedings. The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Jonathan Reiner.
