Taylor Swift Endorses Deadpool Before Kamala

Taylor Swift has made her first major endorsement of 2024: Deadpool & Wolverine. Woo! While the folks over at Kamala HQ continue to send unanswered emails to Tree Paine, Swift has other things on her mind. It’s always so important to get the word out about your best friend’s husband’s movie (which is already tracking to open at around $160 million domestically).

On Thursday, Swift promoted the movie to her 283 million followers. “Over the past few years, I have watched one of my best friends on this planet pour every bit of his heart, soul, sweat, time, energy, jokes, pain, joy, rebellion, darkness, and magic into this film,” Swift wrote of Ryan Reynolds. “He’s created the best work of his life and this film feels like an actual joy portal, a wild escape from reality, and an abs sandwich.”

Sometimes it’s hard to square the fact that the woman who wrote folklore also thinks that Deadpool & Wolverine is an expression of “joy, rebellion, darkness, and magic.” She is so complex. Swift is also, if nothing, a really good friend. She probably just sold tens of thousands of tickets. Clearly, she understands the power that one of her Instagram Stories can wield, and she only uses it for things that really matter. In this case, what matters is a Marvel movie in which Deadpool looks to the camera and says, “I am soaking wet right now.”
