‘The Boys’ Prequel Announced Starring Two Fan-Favorite Characters
The Boys may be coming to an end following its fifth and final season, but the popular Prime Video television franchise just gave fans a reason to celebrate in a big way.
During the "Let's Hear It for Prime Video's The Boys" panel at the San Diego International Comic-Con on Friday, it was announced that a prequel series is in the works called Vought Rising, which will bring back former guest stars Jensen Ackles and Aya Cash. In addition to reprising their characters Soldier Boy and Stormfront, respectively, Ackles and Cash are also set to produce the series, which will be led by The Boys executive producer Paul Grellong, Deadline reports exclusively.
Ackles joined The Boys cast, Grellong, and series creator Eric Kripke on the panel to deliver the news in person. Cash, who wasn't able to attend, likewise appeared on video.

"Producers are writing the scripts right now, it'll be a lurid, pulp saga prequel set in New York City at the dawn of the 1950s about the humble yet diabolical beginnings of the Vought corporation," Ackles explained. Cash likewise gushed that she was "so excited" about the prequel and to be working with Ackles. "I think this thing is gonna be incredible," she revealed. "We got everything from Judy Garland to Joan McCarthy—how, I don't know—I didn't write it, but I have read it, and it's really, really good."
"It’s a twisted murder mystery about the origins of Vought in the 1950s, the early exploits of Soldier Boy, and the diabolical maneuvers of a Supe known to fans as Stormfront, who was then going by the name Clara Vought," Kripke and Grellong added. "We cannot wait to blow your minds and trouble your souls with this salacious, grisly saga drenched in blood and Compound V."
Cash's Stormfront had an arc in the second season of The Boys, and became involved in a relationship with Homelander (Anthony Starr) before being killed off early in season three. Ackles' Soldier Boy, meanwhile, who was found to have been Homelander's father, had a memorable run in season three. His character was last seen in a post credits scene following the fourth season finale.
Season five of The Boys is expected sometime in 2026. In addition to Vought Rising, the series has already seen several successful spinoffs, including a web series Seven on 7, an adult animated anthology series Diabolical, and the live-action Gen V, which is currently filming its second season. There is also a The Boys: Mexico in the works, which is being executive produced by Diego Luna and Gael García Bernal.
