Who is Tristan Thompson’s brother, Amari? Khloe Kardashian pays tribute to ex’s brother on his 18th birthday
NBA star Tristan Thompson is the eldest of four boys and plays for the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Here we get to know his brother Amari — who Khloe Kardashian gave a birthday shoutout to for his 18th.
Who is Tristan Thompson’s brother, Amari?
Eighteen-year-old Amari — Tristan Thompson’s youngest sibling — suffers from epilepsy, a brain disorder that causes recurring, unprovoked seizures and sometimes loss of awareness, according to the Mayo Clinic.
He was born on July 28, 2006.
In the July 27, 2023, episode of Hulu’s The Kardashians, Khloé Kardashian, 40, shared that her ex Tristan and Amari moved in with her following the death of their mom.
His mother, Andrea Thompson, died suddenly after suffering a heart attack on January 5, 2023.
On the show, Khloé said in a confessional: “I’m grateful that I’m strong enough and brave enough to be a support system for someone else that has no other support system right now.
“You don’t have to treat me right for me to treat you right — it’s not the way I was raised.”
Following Andrea’s passing, Tristan brought Amari back to California.
At the time, Khloé revealed: “Amari is 16, and he is severely disabled. It’s just really sad, because we don’t know what he knows or doesn’t know, cognitively.”
Another reason Tristan and Amari moved in with the Good American founder involved damage to his home that made it “unlivable,” as per E! News.
Khloé said: “He was able to live there during renovations, but we had crazy weather for California, like extreme rains, and Tristan’s roof caved in on his home and caused flooding.
“Tristan and Amari are staying at my house right now until his home gets fixed.”
The reality star also added that her son with Tristan, named Tatum, has now been able to spend time with his uncle Amari and that they really “like each other”.
On February 27, 2024, the Los Angeles County Superior Court granted Tristan sole guardianship of his Amari.
Khloé noted that she and Tristan were not re-exploring a romantic relationship but said that they “are family.”

The couple also share two children.
She said: “I know it’s hard for everyone to believe, but I love, love, love Andrea and I love Tristan. I love Amari. This is what family does.
“Tristan is the father of my kids… I know how close Tristan and his mom are, and I just, it’s just heartbreaking.
“And then to be left with the responsibility of another person as well, it’s a lot.
“I just think this is what family does when s*** hits the fan.
“All you have is your family. And Tristan and I are family, and we’re gonna be family for the rest of our lives.”
The reality star later hit back at an online troll who had questioned her “rationale” about an Instagram post featuring three photos from the birthday party for Amari’s 17th birthday.
Khloe wrote in response: “I’m seriously questioning your rationale in commenting. What’s the problem?”
Another online critic suggested that featuring Amari on the reality show and on social media was a violation of his “consent”.
Kardashian replied: “His mom was always so proud of her son and wanted him front and center. Mind yours and I’ll mind mine thank you.”
On Saturday July 28, Khloe wrote a sweet Instagram tribute to Amari on his 18th birthday.
She penned: “Happy 18th Birthday sweet angel Amari!!
“I can’t believe you are 18! You have changed our lives in the best possible ways! Thank you for being an angel to us all!
“You are the sweetest, silliest and most loving young man.
“I hope you feel how much we love and adore you our sweet angel Amari”
Along with the heartwarming message, Khloe shared a number of pictures of herself with Amari over the years.

Tristan established The Amari Thompson fund back in 2013 in honor of his brother.
It was made to benefit Epilepsy Toronto to heighten awareness, education, and funding for the disorder.
“Everyone has their motivation,” Tristan said in March 2022 following a Chicago Bulls’ shootaround, according to NBC.
“For me, it’s my brother and my family. My Mom has had to sacrifice each day as well.
“She’s had to watch a child for basically 24-hour care. That takes her away from her own life and freedom.
“Most parents who have kids in the NBA, their parents are able to go to Vegas or Atlantic City and go to islands. For her, it’s not always the same. I use that as my driving force to try to make both their lives easier.”
Who are Tristan’s other brothers?
Tristan is known for his involvement with the Kardashian family.
The NBA star was in an on-off relationship with Khloe between 2016 and 2023.
However, fans of the basketball player want to know more about his own flesh and blood.
The sportsman was born on March 13, 1991, in Canada to Andrea and Trevor Thompson and is of Jamaican descent.
Tristan shares three brothers: Dishawn, Daniel, and Amari.
Dishawn, born May 3, 1995, and Daniel tend to keep out of the spotlight.
However, both have followed in their brother’s footsteps and aspire to become famous basketball players one day.
According to the NBA, Dishawn stands tall at 6 foot 4 inches and played for Northeast Junior College in Nebraska.
Daniel, on the other hand, won a U-11 Championship in Canada in 2015.
