Love Island’s Joey ‘will split with Jessy as soon as they get back to Essex’ after clue in dumping, claim fans
LOVE Island’s Joey Essex and Jessy Potts were dumped from the island just a day before the finale – and fans are already convinced they’ll split.
The couple were eliminated on last night’s episode in a brutal final dumping that saw a group of former islanders return to hand their judgement on the remaining couples.
Joey and Jessy were voted by seven of the 13 returning stars as the “least compatible” couple, with many stating they felt Joey was “playing a game” in order to win.
The 33-year-old Towie star even had an argument with Reuben Collins, who was dumped from the show earlier this week alongside Joey’s ex, Grace Jackson.
But on an appearance on Aftersun, Joey looked shocked when asked by Maya Jama what was to come next for the couple.
“You guys are now exclusive,” said Maya, before asking, “Are you going to move her in like you said you would..Is it Essex time?”
“Moving in?! We’re going back to Essex for sure…umm moving in, we ain’t discussed moving in,” Joey responded.
“No, sorry, I thought you said you were bringing her home, I was just leapfrogging,” Maya replied, prompting Joey that they would be “going back to Essex”.
Currently, Jessy is based two-and-a-half hours away from Essex in Leicester.
Fans were quick to pick up on the moment, warning Jessy that – between that comment and other warnings delivered to her by former islanders – things may not work out with Joey.
Writing on X (formerly Twitter), one wrote: “Jessy babes listen to what these people are saying Joey will leave you on the outside.”
Another added: “can’t wait to see joey and jessy split, i give it a week.”
“Joey’s gonna break up with jessy after the reunion telling her they’ve only been in an exclusive friendship couple anyway” said a third, in reference to his comments to former flame Samantha earlier in the episode.
“I feel for Jessy cause she genuinely likes Joey but he’ll dump her as soon as they leave,” commented a fourth.
While a fifth said: “Joey’s going to dump Jessy back in Leicester and run straight off to Essex”
The pair’s exit comes right before the Love Island finale, which will air tonight on ITV2.
Now only four couples remain with a shot at getting the £50,000 prize money.
The current couples are: Mimii Ngulube and Josh Oyinsan, Ciaran Davies and Nicole Samuel, Sean Stone and Matilda Draper, and Jessica Spencer and Ayo Odukoya.
Mimii, Ciaran, Nicole, Sean and Ayo have been on the show since the start.
Maya will return to the villa for one last time tonight, where she will announce the results of the public vote and crown a champion.
