Dan Evans tattoos: What are the meanings behind the Team GB tennis player’s body ink?
DAN Evans is the current British No3 tennis player and is competing at Paris 2024.
Here we take a look at the meanings behind the tennis star’s collection of tattoos.

Dan Evans sports quite a few tattoos.
They can be seen when he competes, especially when changing shirts between games.
The exact number of tats he has is yet to be reported.
Dan has spoken about the meanings behind some of the artwork decorating his body, while some of it remains a mystery.
On his back and shoulders he has tattoos of the Real Madrid badge, stadium and a player with the Spanish word “orgullo” where their name would usually be, which means “pride” in English.
Above ink of the Champions League trophy there is a script reading “gloria a ti campeon el escudo es mi pasion,” which translates roughly into English as ‘glory to you champion, the shield [or badge] is my passion’.
There also seems to be a pride of lions and a ride-on lawnmower, but the tennis ace is yet to explain the meanings behind any of this ink.
Dan has a tattoo of Jesus Christ wearing a crown of thorns on his left forearm, along with the scrip: “The Lord is our Soul”.
In 2013, former British ladies’ No1 Laura Robson said: “He’s got a Jesus tattoo. I mean, if you’ve ever spoken to him, he’s really not the most religious person. That doesn’t make a lot of sense to me.”
And after his shock first-round win over Kei Nishikori in the US Open the same year, Laura tweeted: “Massive win from @Evo151216! Shame about the tattoos though.”
To which Dan responded: “I don’t understand what her thing is with these tattoos. She told me the other day she was going to get a tattoo.
“I am just going to throw that out there so she can answer questions about tattoos now.”
But the rather underwhelming reasoning behind the artwork was revealed in June 2023, when Dan told MailOnline: “I’m Catholic but I’m not overly religious.
“I just wanted to have a tattoo.
“Seems to be a decent bloke, old Jesus.”
A detailed view of the tattoo of Jesus on Daniel Evans’ arm[/caption]The Brit has an Oscar Wilde quote on his inner left arm.
It reads: “Every saint has a past, every sinner has a future”.
It could well be a reference to his cocaine shame of 2017 — he was banned for a year after testing positive for the drug.
Dan told MailOnline: “I thought that was a pretty cool quote.
“I’d been getting some abuse in the paper when I lost my funding for going out before the Wimbledon juniors.
“I had it done for the next time I played in the main draw.
“I thought it was apt at the time — little did I know what was in front of me!”
Dan also has a couple of tats he’s not too keen on, such as the four stars down the back of his leg and the word “shhhhh” on his finger, and has even mentioned getting these removed.
Speaking about the writing on his inside of his index finger, he told MailOnline: “I was hammered, so it doesn’t count.”
