Gold Derby can exclusively reveal that Jon Ham is entering the “The Morning Show” episode “The Green Light” as his 2024 Emmy Award submission for Best Drama Supporting Actor. “The Green Light” aired on September 27, 2023 and is the fourth episode of the Apple TV+ drama’s third season.
In “The Green Light,” Alex (Jennifer Aniston) takes Paul (Hamm) to a Coney Island amusement park and apologizes for bailing on the suborbital flight. Later that night, Cory (Billy Crudup) has an upfront party at his mansion with many of the UBA personalities to help sell the brand to the advertisers in attendance. At the party, Fred (Tom Irwin) informs Cory that every fiscal decision must go through him as he is overseeing the loan as a consultant. Cory informs Stella (Greta Lee) that he is going to secure the funding from another source. Immediately after their conversation, Alex and Paul arrive at the party in a helicopter that lands on the beach behind Cory’s house.
“The Morning Show” received 15 Emmy nominations this year, including Best Drama Series, along with bids for 10 of its actors.
This year marks the 13th and 14th acting Emmy nomination for Hamm (he’s nominated for “Fargo” as well) and his 18th overall. He won Best Drama Actor for “Mad Men” in 2105. For this 2024 contest, he is competing against his “The Morning Show” castmates Crudup and Mark Duplass, “Shōgun” duo Tadanobu Asano and Takehiro Hira, as well as Jack Lowden (“Slow Horses”) and Jonathan Pryce (“The Crown”).
