Sky Sports journalist predicts how many more signings Spurs will make this summer
Tottenham fans may be growing frustrated with the lack of incomings this summer, however, according to Sky Sports’ Michael Bridge, there is still an expectation that multiple deals will be done before August 30th.
Postecoglou has only been granted two summer signings
As Spurs continue to ramp up their pre-season preparations with games in South Korea, many fans have become agitated over the team’s lack of investment this summer.
Tottenham have only added Timo Werner (on a second loan deal) and Archie Gray to the squad this summer with Lucas Bergvall being signed back in February and 18-year-old South Korean prospect, Yang Min-Hyuk, not linking up with the squad until January 2025. (Standard)
The lack of movement in the transfer market is made even more confusing after Ange Postecoglou himself explained back in May that “last year it certainly benefited us in having a couple of players in early to be with the whole squad”.
However, he did later admit that: “It’s easier said than done. Everyone wants to get business done early, and everyone is keen to bring players in but the reality is that it takes a little bit of time”. (Football.London)
Two or three more additions this summer
Michael Bridge from Sky Sports has revealed to GiveMeSport what he knows about Spurs’ transfer plans and what he thinks will happen before the window shuts on August 30th at 11 pm.
He said: “I don’t think there’s an actual set number [of signings] just yet, and they’re very quiet with how they do their business. I think they’re still looking for about two or three first-team players to come into the squad.”
One player who Tottenham continue to be linked with is Jacob Ramsey of Aston Villa who, according to Sky Sports, was part of a prospective deal with Villa which would see Giovanni Lo Celso head in the opposite direction.
Michale Bridge explained: “There is interest in Aston Villa’s Jacob Ramsey, but there’s been nothing further from that, just interest, with potentially Giovanni Lo Celso going to Aston Villa. But, there is nothing on that in terms of anything going forward.”
Spurs Web opinion
Tottenham fans will be wary of the previous remarks made by long-term manager, Mauricio Pochettino, who once claimed in pre-season that “the club need to change my title and description. Of course, I am the boss deciding the strategic play, but in another area, I don’t know. Today, I feel like I am the coach”. (The Guardian)
Although the situation with Ange Postecoglou is different, the board will still need to continue to back the Australian, especially following his impressive handling of last season’s signings, with Postecoglou helping almost every single one of his summer additions to thrive.
