Clackamas County Board passes resolution to crack down on derelict RV and camper vehicles

0

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Clackamas County is cracking down on derelict recreational vehicles and campers parked on public streets.

On Thursday, the Clackamas County Board of Commissioners approved an amendment to allow the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office to tow away RVs and campers on public roads that are causing a nuisance.

The new rules will allow deputies to request warrants if the vehicles are lived in, if the owners are refusing to move or if they are causing health or safety issues.

"We've had certain situations where there have been injuries, fights. I believe there's been stabbings at some of these locations," said Clackamas County Attorney Scott Ciecko. "And so there are times when, when balancing the totality of the circumstances, towing these vehicles and moving them is warranted."

The new rules to amend the county code were passed unanimously and will take effect immediately.
